How to let an elephant dance; Implementation of a data lake in near real-time at a Dutch insurer

Implementation of a data lake is hard enough. Especially if you are an insurer which is bound to multiple regulatory requirements. On top of that, the requirement is also to have the data in near real-time in the data lake as data is used in the company’s customer facing apps and websites as well as for data science purposes. And if regulatory and technical difficulties were not enough, the data lake is put in the cloud and the teams working on it are working Agile SCRUM for the first time. It sometimes feels if we need to teach an elephant how to dance.
